Dear family and friends,
A new year has come and gone. And, regretfully this letter is a little late. Tom and Nancy now have ten grand children and one on the way. Last summer most of the family went to Long Beach, California for Rob’s wedding, five down and four to go. We will let Christina wait for a while since she turned only 12 on December 31st. Spring break we went to Orlando, Florida and did the tourist thing. Here is an update on each of the families and what has happened this last year.
John and Tonia have stayed busy raising their boys. Brendan (9) recently earned his black belt in karate. He and Alec (5) have enjoyed learning karate together. Logan (2) has kept things hopping at their home.
Rob got married this summer in July to Kelly Salas. She was born in Peru and grew up in southern California. It was a beautiful wedding and they now live in Irvine, CA. They are planning on touring Europe this coming summer.
Mark’s family welcomed a new baby boy, Sam, last August. Sam is a happy baby who’s had tons of personality from day one. Ethan (5) is in his second year of preschool and learning to read. Kathleen (3) is also attending preschool, and starting dance classes. Mark was accepted to the University of Utah PhD program and will begin classes in January. Kalli stays busy at home with the kids and is glad she can exercise without a big belly anymore!
Allen and his family are currently in Metz, France. He is attended Georgia Tech University to earn a Masters degree in Computer Science. Yes, Georgia Tech has a campus in Metz, France. I think his wife Emily may have had some influence on the decision since she taught high school French. Their son Liam (1) is now walking and getting into everything.
Crystal’s family is doing well. Her husband Parker has been working for Emerald Repair. Crystal is a stay at home mom. Kyler is living the 18 years old life. Derrick (4) is loving preschool and loves to ride his four-wheeler. Crystal is expecting a new baby daughter, Maci Jean, in January, the sooner the better. They also have three rambunctious dogs which keep them on their toes.
Doug is currently attending Utah State University in Logan, Utah. He is majoring in international studies. He and Deanna shared an apartment this year and he will be graduating May of 2012.
Deanna is also attending Utah State University. She loves living there, but just wishes that it wasn’t so cold!
Jessica is a senior in high school. Last summer she attended EFY and YASE. YASE is a Young Ambassador program where the youth have the opportunity to sing and dance while being taught by members of the BYU Young Ambassadors. She plans on attending YASE again this summer. She is still heavily involved with ballet and is now one of the instructors for the younger students.
Tina keeps things young and active at the Perl home. She is studying piano and violin. Tom and Nancy love to hear her play. She loves to read. She especially loves Warrior books and has formed a local Warriors club.
Nancy had neck and back surgery following Robert’s wedding this summer. Needless to say, the surgeries have forced Nancy to slow down her active pace. Her final check up for the surgeries is at the end of January 2012. Her recovery has been progressing well.
Tom is still on the stake high council. His company, CSE, is doing well despite the economy. CSE will be moving offices during the first quarter of 2012. They have been leasing for the past 25+ years, but have now purchased their own building.
Jessica has put together a family blog. So during the year if you want to know how the Perl family is doing just visit theperlfamily.blogspot.com. We wish to say thank you to all our family and friends for all the love and support you have given to our family. We hope everyone had a wonderful, safe and spiritual Christmas season. Merry Christmas and have a wonderful Happy New Year.
Love,
The Perl Family J
